Project

Canlib will bring together a range of expertise from across the EU to form a partnership comprising of experts that will include:

Health, health policy, public information providers, cancer experts, agencies,  patients, NGO’s and others  together with people with skills in communication infrastructures, development and solutions,  information strategies and community activists.

The project will work to develop a range of initiatives:

The Library

An information infrastructure populated with good examples of resources of a major health disease, specifically Cancer.

The information will be organised logically by topic, language, type etc.  For example the library will include:

Content

- Completed sets of documentation arranged in specific disease areas
- In their constituent parts:i.e. sets of texts, images and other media.

- Sets of alternative images

- Other high value images

- Other media types i.e. audio and video files.

Content in the library will be offered to communities and citizens as a resource to help them to translate, edit, adjust and improve the contents to meet their own local language, culture and religious needs.  The aim of this is to increase the range and value of information to meet the specific needs of different groups within the EU populations and increase the value of information to those who need this.

Tools

There will be a tools section.  This will provide access to a range of free to use tools (programs, services, plugins etc.)  for use in the different technical environments of end users.

There will be a help section, providing as range of support services in English and other languages including but not limited to:

FAQ’s

Email support for specific queries

On line advisories given through a range of media solutions.

Marketing and dissemination

There will be an online service to support dissemination and local branding

There will also be services providing support for media actions, developing local activities and the related promotional tools for events and promotions.

Specific dissemination actions will be developed to spread knowledge of the project activities using traditional approaches, media management, press releases as well as  WOM and viral approaches to maximise the potential of this work.

Key “information sponsors” will be identified for major sections of the activity. They will participate either directly, in person and /or  virtually. This action will ensure a wide potential to gain access to publicity generating positive promotion for both the project and all participating communities.
